WOMAN AT HEART PROGRAM

Heart disease in women is NOT the same as heart disease in men. Diagnosis is actually often more complicated in women because they do not experience the same symptoms as men. Treatment differs significantly as well, due to the effects of hormones, the relatively smaller size of the heart and many other important factors.

Dr. Ludington has established the Woman at Heart Program at North Coast Cardiology to help women find answers to their questions about heart disease.

Through this unique initiative, many programs are offered that cannot be found anywhere else in the San Diego area:
  • Quarterly evening educational conferences devoted to women’s heart disease prevention and treatment
  • A special newsletter focusing on common women’s heart conditions (mitral valve prolapse, dizziness, high cholesterol, angina, etc)
  • Community outreach and support via the American Heart Association’s “Go Red For Women” program
  • Special cholesterol analysis tailored toward each woman’s age, menopausal status and health history
  • Exercise and weight loss programs geared toward a woman’s body
  • Support groups for women who have heart conditions (heart attack, stroke, atrial fibrillation, etc)

Most importantly, you will get an opportunity to discuss your heart health concerns with Dr. Ludington, who is a board certified cardiologist with a special interest in the prevention and treatment of women’s heart conditions.
