From the staff of North Coast Cardiology, we welcome you to our cardiology clinic in Encinitas. Dr. Katherine Ludington is a highly qualified cardiovascular specialist with a caring and compassionate approach to patient care. Our practice is open to men, women, and children over the age of 10.

Dr. Ludington, a graduate of Stanford University, is a board certified Cardiologist. She has been on staff at the prestigious Scripps Clinic's Division of Cardiovascular Diseases since 2002 and is a leader in the field of non-invasive coronary imaging using the latest techniques of Cardiac CT and MRI. Prevention of heart disease is also an important part of our clinic mission. From our new "PLAQUE DETECT" painless ultrasound screening test to weight loss and stress reduction programs, our office offers comprehensive heart care for you and your loved ones.

Our beautifully remodeled suite is spacious, comfortable and allows us to provide comprehensive cardiac and vascular imaging in the comfort of our office. It features a sitting (no tube) nuclear camera that is 9 times faster than traditional cameras, as well as state of the art ultrasound and exercise stress testing. Our friendly and caring team includes a dedicated vascular imaging technician and a full time, dicated cardiac echosonographer, and two specially trained nuclear technicians, who strives to make your visit a relaxing and enjoyable one. We also welcome Nurse Practitioner Jacinta Tran, who joined our team in January 2016 to provide the most comprehensive care possible for all of your heart related needs. Thesesa has a passion for prevention and early diagnosis of heart conditions.

Dr. Ludington has a special interest in heart disease prevention and women's heart disease. She has lectured on topics related to women including cholesterol and blood pressure challenges in post-menopausal women, palpitations and mitral valve prolapse syndrome, and coronary disease diagnosis and treatment in women. At North Coast Cardiology, we respect your time and need for prompt medical care. Next day appointments and same day emergency appointments are available. Most insurances are accepted.

For further information or to make an appointment, please call us at (760) 753-0220.

New patients (men, women and children over 10) are welcome. For children and teens between 10-18, we offer full cardiology services without the wait that Rady Children's often has. We work closely with many of the local Pediatricians to ensure that your family's needs are met. Please notify us if you are scheduled for surgery and need pre-operative evaluation of your heart. Be sure to have your surgeon's name so we can communicate effectively and quickly.

Please contact your primary care provider if your insurance requires a referral for specialist services. A primary care provider referral is usually NOT required to see the doctor, unless you have HMO insurance.

Our office is proud to offer a brand new program, called "PLAQUE DETECT." This painless, noninvasive 30 minute test uses state of the art ultrasound to diagnose blockages in the carotid arteries, which can lead to stroke. The abdominal aorta and the circulation to the legs is also thoroughly evaluated. Finally, the function of the heart is analyzed, something that no other screening program offers.

OUR OFFICE WINS 2012, 2013, 2014, 2015, 2016, AND 2017 BEST OF ENCINITAS AWARD

The US Local Business Association awarded North Coast Cardiology the Best of Encinitas award again this year. This is our fourt year in a row! Congratulations to our team for earning this honor.

Dr. Ludington's expertise in hypertension and hypercholesterolemia treatment combines a thorough risk assessment with lifestyle changes and modern drug therapy, as needed.
